  43. I am looking at purchashing either a 736R or a 970a radio for satellite.  I know the basic differences but was wondering if anyone has any first hand experience with either or both of these.  If so please let me know ... thanks

  69. The 78A is a very nice radio.  I purchased one myself.  However the
  70. Alinco 580 is a very capaible radio ( very close in features to the
  71. kenwood ) and the Yaesu 530 has more fetures, but it costs a fair bit more.
  72. I have been very pleased with my radio, I just wish the FCC would send me
  73. my licence so I can acctually talk on it !

  87. Has anyone seen any mods yet for the Kenwood TM733A? It
  88. is quite a different radio than the 732 so it looks like
  89. some new information is necessary stretch the already wide
  90. frequency range a bit!

  93. in Japan, but would certainly like to hear what anyone else
  94. comes up with....

  138. If you really feel the antenna is in danger from theft, I have seen
  139. "fold down" mounts that would swing down into the trunk (with the trunk
  140. open) or up to use. The trunk locks it upright when you shut it. I had
  141. one of these that I think was made for CB use. You might check a CB
  142. shop, anyone else out there remember these things?

  165. I have the kenwood and all my ham friends are green with envy.  However
  166. both radios are very comperable in features: I, like your self could not
  167. decide with to purchase.  Since the two seemed to be almost the same, I
  168. wnet by the best deal I could find and at the time the Kenwood was the
  169. least expensive ( if you call almost $400 least expensive ! ).
  170. I doubt that you could go wrong with either one.

  181. For what it is worth, I like the Standard 558A best of any of the dual 
  182. band handheld radios.  It has an outstanding receiver with the 
  183. capablity to receive am aircraft, marine band, and the 800MHZ band as 
  184. well.  It is expensive, but worth the price in my opinion.

  210.        I've been intrigued by the ads for the Standard C108, the super 
  211. tiny HT that Standard has just introduced.  Obviously it will be a 
  212. limited appeal rig with its 230MW!!! transmitter.  I read a review of 
  213. the UHF version of this HT in a European magazine that said it was 
  214. really quite a nice piece of equipment with a hot receiver, good 
  215. selectivity, real AM/FM receiver, etc.
  216.        Has anyone any experience with this rig that they'd care to 
  217. share?

  236.  Has anyone out there got a 13cms Module for the ICOM IC970A multimode
  237.  vhf/uhf base station that might be surplus to requirements?
  238.  This module,part number ICUX98,is only available to special order
  239.  in UK as 13cms is considered a specialist band.
  240.  It occurs to me that someone may well have bought one & then discovered
  241.  that they'll never use it due to low general activity on 2.3 Ghz.
  242.  There were a couple of them knocking around ICOM dealers & available
  243.  at a good price but these seem to have vanished recently!
  244.  Otherwise they're 1399 UKP in UK (no chance) & special order anyway.
  245.  They're 1399 DOLLARS in USA so if I can't locate one here it'll
  246.  be cheaper to import one from the States.
